2012 KBA 8th Grade Girls State Tournament

It was another great weekend at KBA!  There were 28 teams from all over the state to compete in the 2012 KBA 8th Grade Girls State Tournament.  Elkhorn was back to defend their title, but Eastside had a different idea.  Here’s the rundown:

Final 4 Game: Eastside 46 – Elkhorn 43

These two teams went to the wire in last year’s 7th Grade State Tournament, with Elkhorn pulling out a victory in overtime.  This year’s game was just as exciting, but the outcome was different as Amber Higdon’s putback layup gave Eastside the lead for good in Eastside’s 46-43 victory.  Tournament MVP Lindsey Duvall led Eastside with 19 points, while Rebecca Cook and Princess Stewart paced Elkhorn with 11 points each.

Final 4 Game: Lebanon 49 – Johnson Traditional 41

This was another great semifinal game.  Lebanon pulled away early and seemed to have a comfortable lead.  Johnson Traditional started raining 3’s in the midst of a tremendous run that cut the score to 44-41 with 31 seconds left.  Lebanon executed down the stretch and won the game 49-41.

Eastside got out to a fast start and never looked back.  Tournament MVP Lindsey Duvall had another great game, leading Eastside with 19 points.  Lebanon’s Jordan Thomas led Lebanon with 11 points in the game.
